Angel Locsin's recent visit in Marawi City, albeit putting her in danger, is one bold statement. Not all celebrities of her stature can and WILL do that. But out of pure love for her fellow Filipinos, she braved the odds and took the chance. This not only puts her in an entirely different light, but also in a totally different place in the minds and hearts of us common Filipinos who only wish nothing but the best (Read: lasting peace) in war-torn places in the country. Since transferring to the country's biggest media network ABS-CBN, Angel Locsin has starred in films that have elevated her to become the superstar that she is. From her very first film the Rory Quintos-megged "Love Me Again", which paired her with Piolo Pascual, up to her most recent one, "The Third Party" (2016)

directed by the amazing Jason Laxamana, Angel Locsin is out to show the world how passionate she is with her craft as an actress. She received her very first Best Actress honors for her role in "In the Name of Love" (2011), helmed by Olivia Lamasan. She starred with John Lloyd Cruz in the Valentine's blockbuster "ÜnOfficially Yours" (2012), proving her power in the romcom genre. She received multiple Best Actress nominations for her lead role performance in the MMFF winner "One More Try" (2012), which garnered a Grade A from the Cinema Evaluation Board. With her subdued acting prowess, she shone in "Four Sisters and a Wedding" (2013), alongside some of ABS-CBN's biggest stars. In Joyce Bernal's "Everything About Her" (2016), she pitted acting chops with no less than the star for all seasons Vilma Santos, propelling the film to be one of last year's biggest blockbusters. And not to be outdone, one of 2016's bravest cinema ventures from a major production house was the LGBT-themed "The Third Party", where Angel Locsin was simply a force whilst ably letting her co-stars Zanjoe Marudo and Sam Milby show their strengths too. Tribute Year to Our Queen Angel

2017 is, without a doubt, shaping up to be a tribute year to our Queen Angel. In case you've been hiding under a rock, let us fill you in. The country's top two networks have been preparing for a movie (Darna) and a couple of TV series (Mulawin vs Ravena, La Luna Sangre). Angel Locsin played the lead roles in these programs' previous iterations. Darna (2005, GMA 7), Alwina in Mulawin (2004-2005, GMA 7), and Lyka in Lobo and Lia in Imortal, where La Luna Sangre's story will be based from (2008 & 2010-2011, ABS-CBN 2) are her most iconic TV roles to date.

And this year, we're about to witness a sort of second coming of these roles being played by different actresses altogether. Such a beautiful homage to Angel! Whether the new stars tapped to play these reprised roles would end up living to expectations (mind you, Angel is leaving huge shoes to fill), that's really beside the point.
